About Us

Since 2006, OHRDP has been procuring and coordinating the distribution of evidence-based harm reduction supplies to Core Needle Syringe Programs in Ontario.

It was established in response to the rate of Hepatitis C and HIV infection among people who inject drugs.

We now coordinate the distribution of evidence-based harm reduction supplies to 34 Public Health Unit Regions in the province. These 34 Public Health Unit Regions further distribute harm reduction supplies to over 570 access points. These access points are community-based programs, pharmacies, and mobile outreach services where anyone can walk in to receive harm reduction supplies and information about safer practices.

OHRDP is funded through the AIDS and Hepatitis C Programs of the Ministry of Health (MOH). Working with the MOH to provide up to date information and data on the status of the harm reduction supply landscape is crucial. Without their support, we would not have the ability to so robustly address HIV, hepatitis C and other blood borne infections in the province for people who use drugs. We appreciate their ongoing commitment.
